How to Send a Dispute Letter
Send all dispute letters to credit bureaus and creditors via certified mail with return receipt requested. Keep copies of everything. The bureau has 30 days to complete its reinvestigation. If the item cannot be verified, the bureau must delete or correct it under FCRA Section 1681i(a)(5)(A).
When Professional Help Is Better
Self-dispute templates work for straightforward inaccuracies. For complex cases — bankruptcies, identity theft, mixed credit files, multiple accounts from the same furnisher, or items that have already been "verified" once — professional FCRA-certified credit repair is more effective. Credlocity offers a free 30-day trial with no upfront fees.
