Free Credit Repair/Self Credit Repair

Now there is technically no such thing as free credit repair. The reason being is that there involves two aspects to it. The First aspect is getting reliable credit monitoring, not credit karma, although they offer a great service it only gives you two Major Credit Bureaus vantage scores and to properly do credit repair you need all 3 reports and all 3 scores. Credit Karma can give you a baseline to work off of but that’s about it.

Introduction:

Have you ever found errors or outdated information on your credit report that has hurt your credit score? Did you know that you can dispute negative items on your credit report on your own, without the help of a credit repair company? In this guide, we'll show you how to use our free credit repair templates to dispute negative items on your credit report and improve your credit score.

What is Credit Repair?

Credit repair is the process of fixing inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated information on your credit report. By doing so, you can improve your credit score and increase your chances of getting approved for loans, credit cards, or other financial products.

DIY Credit Repair:

Now, there is technically no such thing as “free credit repair.” However, with Credlocity’s free credit repair templates, you can dispute negative items on your credit report by yourself with minimum money spent. The first step to doing so is obtaining reliable credit monitoring and ordering your credit report. While sites like Credit Karma provide a great service, they only give you two out of three major credit bureaus’ vantage scores. To properly do credit repair, you need all three reports and scores. This is where Credlocity comes in to offer support with your credit monitoring and score provider with our CredlocityIQ credit monitoring.

Once you have all three reports and scores, move forward to disputing negative items on your credit report by using our free credit repair templates. But before we dive into that, there are a few important steps to take first.

Step 1: Request a Credit Freeze

Before disputing anything on your credit report, request a credit freeze on all three credit reports. By doing this, you prevent anyone from gaining access to your credit report or opening new accounts in your name without your permission. Not to worry, we got you covered with the contact information for each credit bureau and data furnisher.

Step 2: Remove Outdated Information

Next, remove all outdated personal information from your credit report. This includes old names, addresses, jobs, and any other irrelevant personal information. By removing inaccurate information in the personal section of your credit report, you are preventing the credit bureau from “auto-verify" later disputed information.

Step 3: Check Every Aspect of Your Credit Report

Now it’s time to check every part of your credit report. Look closely at dates (open, closed, last payment, etc.), account status, payment history, and comments. If there are any errors, disputes for them. Keep your letter short and simple, stating what is wrong, what the desired outcome is and account details for clarification.

Step 4: Send Dispute Letters via Certified Mail

Before sending any dispute letters, make sure the address is correct and send it via certified mail return receipt requested. This ensures that the credit bureau receives your dispute request and that they complete their investigation of the disputed information within 30 days from the time they receive your request.

Step 5: Wait for Results and Respond Accordingly

After 30-45 days, you’ll receive the results of your dispute request. If it has been “deleted,” then great! You’re done. But, if the credit bureau states that the item has been “verified,” then you’ll have to take additional steps, including sending a response letter and asking for more information. While this is a time-consuming process, it offers a legal form of DIY credit repair, saving you money in the long run.

By following these steps and using our free credit repair templates, you can improve your credit score and financial well-being. Start today with Credlocity.
